The platformer also paved the way for the successful Astro Bot, Team Asobi’s hit game from 2024 that earned numerous Game of The Year awards. While Astro Bot may have eclipsed Astro’s Playroom, it seems developers have not forgotten about the adorable Astro’s first adventure, as the robot’s first game recently received new content. What caught me off guard the most was the hub area, CPU Plaza, having surprise platforming sections along its walls that spring to life instantly. However, TG88 com in Astro’s Playroom are the special suits of the four areas. A grassy plain looks stunning in 4K, only for the plants to be lead with PlayStation face button symbols rather than flowers. A rocky wall you need to climb has coves jutting out that… are actually recreations of trigger switches.

Whilst initially awestruck by the game, it didn’t take very long to see why Sony’s catchy ‘For the Players’ tagline is an admirable slogan built on a history of gaming icons. This game is incredibly well-made; the care put into it is visible in every corner; but as it is it was not made for people like me. Toro the cat filled the role to a degree in Japan but he never fronted any major games and has since faded from the limelight. But now there is a new challenger and while Astro isn’t much of a character his games are becoming some of the best in Sony’s line-up.

All Astro’s Playroom Puzzle Pieces

Combined with the hardware it’s bundled on, it’s something very special indeed – and one of the best launch titles I can remember in an age. It’s a phenomenal thing, taken even further with adaptive triggers that provide meaningful, forceful feedback. It deserves a place among the greats though – Astro’s Playroom has the coherence, character and abundance of ideas, executed with real clarity, of the very best platformers. In Astro’s Playroom, the player has to complete 4 main locations divided into 4 levels.

First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Now, return to the starting area, and to the side, you’ll find another set of wires, which gives you a projectile with a net inside. If done successfully, the Gran Turismo Special Bot and the “Grand Tourist” trophy will unlock. Before you do that, stand on the edge just to the left of where you need to pull the chest from the ground.

Astro’s Playroom: All Artefacts Locations

Puzzle Piece 4/4 – On the main path just after the checkpoint there will be an explosive enemy standing in the middle of the area. Jump and hold over top of it to ignite it, and when it explodes it reveals this puzzle piece underneath. Artifact 1/2 “PS2 Game Disc” – After climbing up and reaching the next checkpoint, there is a spot you can blow into the mic which launches a satellite platform. Climb across to the next area and a large rock will crash into the platform.
